The Black Crowes – Cabin Fever
(Silver Arrow Records Inc. / Angelus Entertainment – 2009)

An Intimate setting for the recording of the latest album 'Before The Frost....Until The Freeze' – that as many know now was done in front of an audience at Levon Helm’s House & Studio (the drummer of The Band).

Chris is in a really good mood and joking away with the audience. Nice chatting away with Levon himself by ther fire as well which is really humble, down to earth and real. The live gig segments are intercut with outside footage where they are situated as well as them on their own performing songs in the studio.

There’s are small snippet interviews sections with some of the members – sadly not the Robinson Brothers, but you do get one from drummer, Steve Gorman as well as 2 bonus numbers live which are ‘Sail On’ and a cover of a number called ‘Dolphins’. Highlights include the opening number ‘Peacocks’ where Rich Robinson is sat playing a sitar with Chris joking that he ain’t playing a guitar again – in fact in a rare moment Chris actually plays guitar himself on one of the numbers.

Love the fact that the The Black Crowes have really gone to the roots with this material and dived into American folk, country music and mountain music showing the band in a different light – although they have always been a band to do whatever they please for you to love or hate – something I have always admired about them.

Just wish it was a longer DVD though.
