About third to last on your right as you head up the street towards Devonshire Green

GREAT FOR clothing with a HUGE range of band names - you can even pick up a Ratt T-shirt there - and at prices much lower than you find them at gigs or high street music stores, plus sew-on patches and rock jewellery as well as a selection of rare live CDs.

WALL OF SOUND - 42 John William St, Huddersfield HD1 1ER

Can be found straight across from the train station, just of view to the right across the square.

For 80’s rock fans, this shop is absolute heaven and then some with many now sadly obscure releases on these racks as well as a good stack of tour programs dating back as far as three decades. Put it this way, you might need to allow a full afternoon to peruse their stock, they have over 40, 000 different items on the premises.

DISCOVERY RECORDS - 73, Westgate, Bradford

RADAR RECORDS - 20 Byram Arcade, Westgate, Huddersfield
TEL NO 01484 426767

Byram Arcade is an old 18th century built sopping precinct. Its entrance can be found quite easily, about 50 yards up on the right on Westgate. The shop is on the first floor mezzanine inside.

GREAT FOR Sizeable variety of CDS with plenty to go at in the rock metal section and top underground hard rock labels like Frontiers and Escape account for a fair few discs on their these shelves. You’ll be in there for quite bit, trust me.

HELLRAISER - 97 Kirkgate, Leeds (City Centre) Tel. 0113 2470800

Walk on past the Corn Exchange shopping mall and bear right after Relics Records - Hellraiser is a few down on the right - recognisable by a red/yellow frontage- and the odd goth or two coming in or out the door.

GREAT FOR: Huge variety of metal/rock clothing and other goodies - this is basically Leeds’ answer to Sheffield’s Rocky Horrors store but with a wider and better range of metal CDs ands DVDS - plenty of titles you won’t pick up too often in HMV or Virgin/Zavvi here guys.

Their premises are also shared by Kyro, who operate the area to the left, inside the door, dealing in plenty of interesting varieties of Goth gear and a healthily loaded wallet may be required for your visit here.

KYRO - 0113 2423236

HELLRAISER also have a store in York. Info on this coming shortly - it has been refurbed recently and we’re not sure if there are any major alterations to their stock that we need to note.

RELICS RECORDS - 53 New Briggate, Leeds (City Centre) LS2 8JD
TEL. NO 0113 2347361

Quite a recently opened independent store, shortly after the Corn Exchange, on the right, easy to pass, en route to Hellraiser.

GREAT FOR: Old and rare vinyl, classic rock 60’s/70’s/80’s and you can also get quite a few second hand surprises in the small but interesting metal section, just inside the door. A good range of hard-to-find rock DVDs also awaits.

MORGANA - 16, The Springs, Wakefield (City Centre) WF1 1QE.
TEL NO: 01924 291069

Carrying on walking downhill past the cathedral, the shop is on your left roughly halfway down the slope. Alternatively, it can be just about seen across to the right from the McDonalds on Kirkgate.

GREAT FOR: Its variety of goth and rock/metal clothing with some fabulous artwork designs. Mainly women’s togs* apparently but blokes are catered for as well - so lads do follow your missis inside, you may very well be tempted.
